Professional Experience
Michael Haynes is currently the Director of TransActive Solutions, a company dedicated to improving the walkability and bikeability of Canadian communities. In this capacity he conducts workshops and presentations on Active Transportation, since 2005 in more than 70 communities in every province in Canada. He has been a member of project teams developing cycling and pedestrian plans, trail plans, and Active Transportation plans.
From 2003-2008, he was the National Active Transportation and TrailsCanada Coordinator of Go for Green, managing a national trails Website. Prior to this, from 1994-2003, he was the Executive Director of the Nova Scotia Trails Federation, the provincial NGO coordinating the development of the Trans Canada Trail in NS.
Michael is a member of the Province of Ontario's Trails Coordinating Committee and the Public Health Agency of Canada's Advisory Committee for Active Transportation. He sits on the Steering Committee for the Ottawa Pathway Patrol, the Public Advisory Committee on Segregated Bike Lanes, and is also a member of the Canada Walks Advisory Committee.
